Shelton School System Apologizes For Friday's Delayed Opening
Roads were icier than anticipated on Friday, Feb. 10, according to Superintdent Dr. Chris Clouet.

SHELTON, CT — The two-hour delayed school opening on Friday, Feb. 10, was an error, according to Shelton Superintendent Dr. Chris Clouet, and any students who did not make it to school that day will receive an excused absence.
Clouet announced the decision in the below Facebook post, which was brought on due to road conditions being icier than anticipated. The district had another delayed opening today, Feb. 13.
Some of the district's bus drivers did not report to work on Friday due to the conditions, which required other drivers to 'double up' routes.

"As you can imagine, it is never my intention to put students or staff at risk," Dr. Clouet wrote, saying he was sorry for the "difficult situation."
"Based on information I received, directly from authorities & other credible sources, indicating that there had been no accidents over night, and that the roads, while not great, were passable, I decided to delay (last night).
"I now realize there were more icy conditions than originally anticipated."
