Shelton Schools Dispel Rumor About Closure

A rumor that the school system decided to close for two weeks isn't true.

SHELTON, CT — Shelton Public Schools is assessing the district's capacity for e-learning in case schools need to be closed for a period of time due to the coronavirus.

Acting Superintendent Beth Smith also dispelled rumors that the school system would close for two weeks.

"I want to reiterate that no one in Shelton has had a positive case of COVID-19 and at the present time, we have made no decision to close Shelton Public Schools for two weeks," she said in a statement.

Each school will have an assembly this week to address general information about the virus, general hygiene and self-care, the school system said in a notification to families.

Field trips, professional learning and school events are being evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
