Shelton Schools Make Decision On Starting Date
A legal battle between the city and Board of Education caused a delay in school bus inspections.

SHELTON, CT — Shelton Public Schools will start as scheduled Tuesday Sept. 4 after a snafu with school buses nearly delayed the start by a day.
The city and school system fought a legal battle over the summer over the bus contract. The Board of Education awarded a contract to Durham School Services while the town wanted to use and operate its own fleet of propane-powered buses, according to the Connecticut Post.
The battle delayed school bus inspections and registrations.

Mayor Mark Lauretti said the school system would pay $700,000 less if they followed the city's lead. The Board of Education contended that the city never provided a detailed plan for running the school bus fleet itself.
