Shelton 'Speakeasy' Decision Overturned By Judge

A judge overturned the Planning and Zoning Commission's rejection of a speakeasy-themed establishment.

SHELTON, CT — A state judge overturned Shelton Planning and Zoning's decision to reject the proposal for a speakeasy-themed establishment in town.

Some residents worried that the location would become a gentleman's club, according to the Shelton Herald. The commission voted against the application, citing the "secretive" nature of the establishment and a letter from the fire marshal office that said there wasn't enough parking.

The judge ruled that the commission didn't specify any specific requirements when it rejected the application. It's not clear if the Planning and Zoning Commission will appeal the decision.
