Shelton Student Group Demands New Acting Superintendent

The group wants the Board of Education to rescind Beth Smith's appointment as acting superintendent.

SHELTON, CT — A protest is being held prior to the Wednesday Board of Education meeting over the appointment of Beth Smith as interim school superintendent.

Smith was appointed to the position after Superintendent Chris Clouet announced he was leaving the district effective the end of this month, according to the Connecticut Post.

Shelton High senior Matt McGee who helped organize SHS Students fight for Change said the number one priority is to rescind Smith's appointment and instead allow Assistant Superintendent Ken Saranich to serve in the acting role.
