Shelton Students Succeed at Karate Tournament

You know how the saying goes: The family that does karate together stays together.

Or at least, that saying is true for cousins Sarah Heines and Sophia Fagan. They take classes at Valley Karate in Shelton and recently competed in the 18th annual All Tang Soo Do National Championships in San Antonio, Texas.

"After two days of competing hard and thriving from the high energy, the cousins, Sarah Heines a 22-year-old third degree black belt from Shelton CT (pictured right), won first place in sparring and third place in forms while Sophia Fagan, 16, from Monroe CT (pictured left), won first place in sparring, second place in forms and third place in weapons," Sarah Bergers wrote in this announcement on Shelton Patch.
