Shelton Vascular Surgeon Honored with 2026 Future of Healthcare Award

The Greater Bridgeport Medical Association (GBMA) has announced that a Shelton vascular surgeon has been selected to receive a 2026 Future of Healthcare Award, recognizing outstanding healthcare professionals under age 40 who are making a meaningful impact through leadership, innovation, service, and dedication to improving healthcare in the Greater Bridgeport region.

Andrew Smith, MD, PhD, FACS, a board-certified vascular surgeon with Connecticut Vascular Surgical Associates, is being recognized for his commitment to advancing vascular care through clinical excellence, groundbreaking research, and compassionate patient care.

A graduate of the University of Michigan and the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University, Dr. Smith completed his vascular surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic, where he also earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine studying vascular graft failure and arterial disease. He has authored nearly two dozen peer-reviewed scientific publications and has built a reputation for combining cutting-edge research with exceptional patient care.

Dr. Smith specializes in both open and minimally invasive endovascular procedures for complex vascular conditions, including aortic disease, peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, venous insufficiency, and dialysis access. His dedication to providing advanced treatment options while delivering personalized, compassionate care has made him a trusted resource for patients throughout the Greater Bridgeport region.

Dr. Smith will be honored during the inaugural Future of Healthcare Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield. The event will celebrate healthcare professionals who are helping shape the future of medicine and improve the health of communities throughout the Greater Bridgeport region.
