Shelton Woman Extinguishes House Fire With Garden Hose: FD
A woman was able to extinguish a fire that broke out at her Shelton home with a garden hose, according to fire officials.
SHELTON, CT — A woman was able to extinguish a fire that broke out at her Shelton home Wednesday morning with a garden hose, according to fire officials.
In a news release, fire officials said crews were called to a Driftwood Lane home around 11 a.m. after the homeowner reported their house was on fire.
As crews made their way to the home, a neighbor also reported the outside of the house was on fire.

When firefighters arrived, there was no smoke or fire visible from outside the home. As crews approached, they noticed several areas on the front of the house that had melted siding and a burned up evergreen tree, fire officials said.
Crews checked inside the home with thermal imaging cameras and confirmed there were no flames inside, however a moderate amount of smoke was found in the attic, fire officials said.

Firefighters spoke with the homeowner and confirmed she had extinguished the fire with her garden hose, fire officials said.
Crews continued to ensure there were no hot spots at the home as Echo Hose Ambulance evaluated the homeowner, who refused transportation to a hospital, according to fire officials.
Once firefighters evacuated the smoke and confirmed there was no carbon monoxide inside the home, crews returned to service. A fire marshal deemed the home habitable, fire officials said.
