State Police Investigate Route 8 Shooting on Christmas Eve

State police say a motorist reported that a car began firing at them in Shelton.

State Police are asking the public for helping in solving a shooting that occurred in Shelton on Route 8 early Christmas Eve morning that left one person injured.

At around 1:15 a.m. State Police at Troop I received a 911 call from a vehicle that was traveling north on Route 8 in the Shelton area, according to State Police.

The caller was reporting that an occupant of a Buick sedan had just fired multiple shots at the victim’s car.

The caller’s vehicle was occupied by five males and was about to exit off exit #22. Seymour Police Department was provided with descriptive information of the vehicles in this incident.

Seymour police located the involved vehicles and stopped both vehicles, securing the occupants, State Police said.

One victim sustained a minor grazing wound to the neck. That person was transported via ambulance, treated and released from Bridgeport Hospital.

State Troopers and State Police Detectives responded and began this investigation. Detectives conducted interviews and searched for evidence both in Seymour and along Route 8 northbound. A State Police K-9 team was utilized to assist in the search of these areas.

No other injuries were reported and no arrests have been made at this time.
