Tax Decrease In Proposed Shelton Budget: Report

The final budget must receive Board of Aldermen approval by the end of May.

SHELTON, CT — Mayor Mark Lauretti is proposing a $123.3 million budget for the city for next year, which represents a slight increase in spending but also a small drop in the mill rate, reports the Shelton Herald.

If the budget is approved, the mill rate would drop from 22.31 mills to 22.21, which would mean a slight tax decrease.

The current Shelton budget is $122.4 million, and the proposed 2017-18 budget carries an increase of less than 1 percent.
