The Generator Guys Take Over the Web

Maybe you've heard of Web 2.0…but certainly not Generators 2.0!  Well, meet The Generator Guys! As founder Raj Bhatia explains, "our goal is to take the best of Web 2.0 and apply it to an industry that has largely remained in the dark ages for decades - the electrical trade."  Nestled in the hills of Southbury, The Generator Guys are taking the internet by storm.

"What this means, is that we respond to clients in real-time, via phone, email and even text.  We provide best of breed Internet practices to make the buying of a generator a simple and pleasant experience!" owner, Raj says. Judging by the success of this newly formed (3 years) company, they must have hit upon something.  Co-founder Kevin Kastelein, an E1 (highest licensed electrician) and 22 year veteran of the trade explains further "most electricians are busy doing other electrical work, and generators are an after-thought.  They may call you back within 24 hours of your message if at all, because they are busy during the day on job sites. I was the same way, but by teaming up with Raj and Adam, and focusing only on generators, we streamlined the process making the entire focus to be the customer experience and rock-star service! It's awesome and we love what we do."

Both Kevin and Adam Camacho have worked with Raj for years as he built out his equestrian center, Willow Creek Farm.  "I was amazed at how talented both Kevin and Adam were and approached them about 3 years ago to start this new company" says Raj. Adam explains, "we weren't sure exactly how things would go initially, but we knew that Raj's experience in the Internet world would immediately put us head and shoulders above the very fragmented, old school competition. Also, as I have had over 20 years of building experience in addition to being an electrician, we can come into even the most complex customer job, and be able to handle all aspects of the job in house. Unlike other companies that may have to call in other tradesmen, we can handle everything in house". As Raj explains it, Adam’s nickname is "special ops" as he can do anything to get the job done.

The "guys" as they refer to themselves on their web site www.thegeneratorguysct.com, are Generac Dealers, the country’s leading company for generators. "People call us and expect us to use Generac, which of course we do.  The brand sells itself, and our website is so comprehensive that a person can actually learn more than they ever wanted to about the generators, the installation process and service!  They can literally become experts just from viewing our site".

Of course not all of us want to be experts, we just want the job done, which is why the company is doing so well, "we handle all aspects of the installation process.  We coordinate the gas installation, pull all the permits, install the units, do the trenching if needed, and get the final inspection from the town - literally our customers can sit back and let us do all the work”, says Kevin.  As Adam continues,  "you know, this is not an inexpensive purchase.  Our average installations run from 6-10 thousand dollars.  You want to know the company is there to support you in all ways. Before, during and after the purchase."  "This is why we take the time to make sure the customer is comfortable and understands all the options, and this is why we are literally available anytime for questions or support."

Ok, so you must want to ask the guys about prices… this all sounds amazing, but how do they compare with the competition?  Laughing out loud, Raj explains, " we get many customers asking us if we are missing something, why is your price so much less the closest bid they ask, and I tell them simply, we only do generators.  We don't have a staff of people who are running around putting in light switches or hooking up garage doors that we need to support!  All we do is generators so we get the best pricing from Generac, and our electrical suppliers, and can efficiently schedule and manage the installation and pass this savings on to the customer.  I have learned from my Internet experience that these days everything is transparent.  You can instantly get prices on every aspect of a purchase, which is why we break down our estimates into all the parts and transparently show a customer where the costs are! “
