The Practice of Silence
Life coach Janis Daddona promotes practicing silence for a better well-being. Daddona stresses the need to hear your inner voice in order to find self discovery.

In a world filled with constant buzzing and noise from our technological devices, life coach Janis Daddona promotes the practice of silence.
hosted Daddona to speak on the concepts of practicing silence as a ritual in order to hear your inner voice and create good energy. Daddona's talk focused on her experiences with silent retreats and how these retreats can benefit oneself. She explained with the practice of silence people can lead a more full-blooded and authentic life by cultivating some "off" time.
An unexpected amount of listeners attended the presentation and had opportunities to ask questions and tell of their experiences of how they obtain silence. Daddona then proceeded to give advice on how to hear your inner voice and explain the differences between inner and outer voices.

“Silence allows the opportunity to tap into our inner voice,” Daddona said. “Inner voices are far more trustworthy.”
What began as a desperate need of silence due to a stressful job, back in early 2010, led to her discovery of the benefits of having silent retreats. Within these retreats that last for six days, she shuts out all noise by turning off telephones, covering clocks, and doing errands for herself that she typically doesn't have time for while relying on eternal needs. A main challenged she faced was her ego always telling her that there was something that needed to be done. Despite this she fought through these urges and obtained her six days of silence which led to self-discovery. It was during this period she was in a state of transcendence and heightened her state of awareness.

Daddona said, “I am not special because everyone is capable of these experiences.”
Daddona proceeded to explain her practices in Reiki, a Japanese form of energy balancing through the laying of hands, and how this has benefited her in reaching her goal of higher intuition. Tapping into higher intuition has led Daddona to feel what other people are currently feeling and understand the troubles they may be experiencing in their life. By concentrating on these senses she managed to develop them over time and claims that everyone can develop these skills.
Carol Hudak of Trumbull said, “I think it was a powerful speech on simplicity. If we could get silence it could possibly change the world. She is a lady of great wisdom. We need to be brave enough to tap into silence and calm our egos. Silence is very challenging.”
Daddona's talk on silence is one of three presentations and soon to follow are presentations on “SimpLicity with a capital L” and “Solitude: The beginning of a Beautiful Friendship.” More information on these talks can be found on her website at www.janisdaddona.com.
