Three Shelton/Derby Veterans Receive Recognition For Contributions To Wounded Troops

Justin Hart, the Associate National Service Director of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), presented Shelton veterans Frank DeAngelo and Al Meadows, Derby veteran Josh Phillips, and 3 other Connecticut veterans with a plaque from DAV National Headquarters during their November 4th visit to Walter Reed. All six are members of the Derby/Shelton AMVETS (American Veterans) Post 43. The plaque was in recognition of Operation Gift Cards’ 100th visit to the Walter Reed National Military Hospital at Bethesda, Maryland.
The six veterans who participated in the 100th visit have led their respective organization’s participation in OGC during the last 8 years. Sixth-eight organizations have co-sponsored Operation Gift Cards visits while distributing over $733,450 in Post exchange gift cards and corporate donations to the wounded troops and their families.
