Tractor Trailer Catches Fire On Route 8 In Shelton: FD
A portion of Route 8 in Shelton was closed Sunday morning after a 53-foot long tractor trailer carrying produce caught fire, officials said.
SHELTON, CT — A portion of Route 8 in Shelton was closed Sunday morning after a 53-foot long tractor trailer carrying produce caught fire, officials said.
In a news release, Shelton fire officials said crews were called to the southbound portion of Route 8, near Exit 11, around 4:30 a.m. and found the truck on fire.
As firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, additional crews shut down the southbound portion of the highway.

Members worked on scene for several hours hitting hot spots once the bulk of the fire was extinguished, officials said.
No injuries were reported and the highway was closed until approximately noon. The Nichols and Trumbull Center fire departments provided assistance, officials said.
