William Joseph Susko, Jr.

Retired Longshoreman

William Joseph Susko, Jr., age 79 of Hamden, CT, died peacefully on May 18, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Derby on April 1, 1941, he was the son of the late William J. Susko, Sr. and Helen (Horischak) Susko. Mr. Susko graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Sociology from UCONN.

Bill was adventurous -- moving to New York City alone, delivering NY Daily newspapers to vendors; crewing on tugs on the Hudson River; working on the S.S. United States on trans-Atlantic trips;, and as a longshoreman at the New Haven Terminal.

Mr. Susko was a member of the Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia.

Bill was incredibly kind and generous; sharing with friends and acquaintances as well as the homeless.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Susko was predeceased by a sister, Helene Fillmore.
