Woman Facing Charges After Two Dogs, Two Cats Found in Unsanitary Conditions: Cops
Shelton police said a deceased puppy was also found at the residence.

Shelton Police charged an Ansonia woman with five counts of animal cruelty on Friday.
Charlotte D’Amico, 31 was arrested after a complaint made by the Shelton Animal Control in January about the welfare of animals at a residence on Soundview Avenue.
At the time, Shelton Police and Animal Control conducted an investigation and found two dogs and two cats that were living in unsanitary conditions without adequate food, water, or heat. Police said they also found a deceased puppy at the residence.

Police and animal control were able to determine that D’Amico used to live at the residence and was responsible for the animals. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the investigation, police said.
The animals were signed over to the animal shelter in January. Two dogs and one cat were adopted immediately after being signed over to the Animal Shelter.

The second cat was adopted after recovering from multiple surgeries.
D’Amico posted a $2,500 bond and was given a court date of Sept. 11.
