UPDATE: Police ID Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run in Shelton

The fatality occurred Wednesday night on Howe Avenue.

Updated at 1:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016: The female pedestrian who was killed in Shelton by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday night has been identified, according to police.

She was Teresa Glossy, 54, of Shelton.

"The accident remains under investigation, anyone with any information regarding the accident is requested to contact the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division," said police in a statement.

Original story: SHELTON, CT - A woman was killed on Howe Avenue in Shelton Wednesday night when a vehicle struck her and fled, according to police.

The victim's identity has not been released, and police are searching for the driver who hit her.

Police said the incident occurred at about 8:41 p.m. at the intersection of Hill Street. After receiving multiple 911 calls, EMS, Shelton Fire, and Shelton Police responded to the scene to find the woman unconscious in the roadway.

She was immediately transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport where she was pronounced dead.

"The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the accident," wrote police in a statement. "Any witnesses or anyone with information regarding this accident are requested to contact Shelton Police Traffic Division at (203) 924-1544."
