Worker Burned By Machine Fire In Shelton: FD

Fire officials said a loud explosion was reported in the area and a worker was taken to a trauma facility with burns to his hands and face.

SHELTON, CT — A machine fire reported Monday afternoon on Oliver Terrace left a worker with burns on his hands and face, according to fire officials.

In a news release posted to Facebook, fire officials said crews responded to a report of a lift on fire around 3:30 p.m. As firefighters were responding, the department received several reports of a loud explosion in the area.

When crews arrived at the building, smoke could be seen coming from the machine inside, officials said. Firefighters then extinguished the remaining fire.

A worker at the building suffered burns to his hands and face and was taken to a local trauma center by Shelton emergency medical services, officials said.

The building received some smoke damage as a result of the fire, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
