Community Update

I was honored to become Chairman of the Simsbury Democrats Nominating Committee.  After an exhaustive search, we have a slate of qualified, smart and business friendly candidates.  Mary Glassman brings her experience as First Selectman to the top of the ticket.  Her leadership has kept the BOS budget essentially flat in very difficult times.  She has met the challenge posed by the departure of The Hartford with an imaginative plan that turns this issue into an opportinity.  Lisa Heavner and Shannon Knall are again running for the Board of Selectman.  They are part of the Glassman team that have been seen everywhere; at community events, testifying at the Aquarion hearing to check increases in your water rates, going to Hartford to represent Simsbury.  Go to a meeting or event and they will always be there.  Joining them for the BOS is Jay DeVivo  whose experience in community affairs and Finance will be invaluable.  Mary, Lisa and Shannon have set a high standard that Jay will match.  The departure of The Hartford and other issues will demand experienced and imaginative leadership.  We are confident that Simsbury voters will elect a team that has kept your taxes in check and offers real plans and not just criticisms.  Look at the flat rate of budget growth from the BOS and compare to surrounding towns.  These folks have done the job.
