See History Come Alive With Simsbury, Avon Home Tours

SIMSBURY/AVON, CT — The Connecticut nonprofit "Histoury" will host a guided colonial homes tour in Avon and Simsbury on Saturday, May 30, offering participants access to several historic private residences dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. and conclude around 6 p.m., with participants meeting and ending at the Simsbury Historical Society, 800 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.

According to organizers, the tour will include stops inside several historic homes, including the circa 1690 Amos Curtis saltbox, a Federal-style brick residence from the 18th century, the circa 1745 Thompson Family saltbox, and the circa 1735 Joseph Mills House.

Guests will travel by charter bus while learning about the history and architectural heritage of colonial-era buildings throughout Avon and Simsbury, organizers said.

Histoury officials said the event is designed to highlight how historic homes can continue functioning as modern residences while preserving their original character and craftsmanship.

The organization said space for the one-day event is limited.

Organizers are offering a $15 discount on tickets through Thursday using promotional code “CT15.”

Histoury describes itself as a nonprofit organization focused on preserving and promoting Connecticut history and culture through educational tours and public programming.
