Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

The event, hosted by HMF Events, features a half marathon, 10K and 5K race centered on Iron Horse Boulevard.

The 10K race is scheduled to begin at 7:15 a.m., while the half marathon and 5K will start at 7:30 a.m.

Road closures will affect Iron Horse Boulevard between Drake Hill Road and Pent Road, as well as Drake Hill Road, Riverside Road, East Weatogue Street, Terry's Plain Road and Quarry Road.

Race officials said residents living within the closed-road area will be directed northbound to accommodate runners traveling in the southbound lane.

In addition, the eastbound lane of Route 315 between Terry's Plain Road and Quarry Road will be closed, with alternating traffic patterns in place.

Police officers and event volunteers will be stationed throughout the course to assist motorists and direct traffic.

The UConn Health Half Marathon is a longstanding Simsbury tradition featuring a two-loop, 13.1-mile course that follows the Farmington River and passes local farmland.

Organizers also offer 10K and 5K race options, a post-race celebration, and youth races through the HMF FitKids program.

The event includes a charitable component through HMF Events' "Run for Good" initiative, which allows participants to support nonprofit organizations.

Organizers are also collecting nonperishable food donations to benefit the Hartford Public High School Grub Pub food pantry program.
