SIMSBURY, CT — A small plane carrying two people made an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon shortly after taking off from Simsbury Airport, according to reports
According to Connecticut State Police, "Preliminary investigation indicates a small plane had an emergency landing in a field leaving Simsbury Airport."
Police said "minor injuries" were reported, with police and Connecticut Airport Authority officials on the scene investigating.
Citing Connecticut State Police, WFSB Channel 3 reported the aircraft came down in a flower field near the airport after departing around 12:50 p.m.
Citing the Federal Aviation Administration, WTNH Channel 8 identified the aircraft as a Piper J3C-65.
The agency said the plane crashed after takeoff for reasons that remain under investigation, WTNH reported.
The Simsbury Airport, located on Wolcott Road, is a public-use airport that serves recreational and general aviation traffic throughout the Farmington Valley.
