Volunteers will assist with identifying and removing non-native plants that can threaten local ecosystems and crowd out native vegetation.

According to the land trust, invasive plants are affecting natural areas across its properties.

The group is encouraging residents to learn how to identify invasive species in their own yards and participate in removal efforts on protected open space lands.

Among the common invasive plants highlighted by the organization are multiflora rose, autumn olive, burning bush and mugwort.

The Simsbury Land Trust has posted registration information and educational resources online, including a booklet designed to help residents identify and remove invasive plants from their properties.

Those interested in volunteering can find additional information and register through the Simsbury Land Trust website.

The June work days are part of the organization's ongoing efforts to protect and restore native habitats throughout Simsbury.
