SIMSBURY, CT — The Simsbury Community Band will celebrate America's 250th anniversary with a free patriotic concert on Tuesday, July 8, at the Simsbury Historical Society.
The family-friendly event will take place on the front lawn of the Simsbury Historical Society, 800 Hopmeadow St., and will feature an evening of music and commemorative activities marking the nation's Semiquincentennial.
The program begins at 6 p.m. with the dedication of the Liberty Tree in the society's main parking lot.
At 6:30 p.m., attendees are invited to hear a reading of the Declaration of Independence, followed by the Simsbury Community Band concert at 7 p.m.
Admission is free.
Organizers encourage guests to bring lawn chairs and bug repellent for the outdoor performance.
Free parking will be available in designated areas along Hopmeadow Street and in public parking lots on Iron Horse Boulevard.
