Simsbury Assisted Living Facility Employee Earns Prestigious Award

SIMSBURY, CT —A beloved member of a prominent assisted living facility's team was recently honored with a prestigious, statewide award.

Nancy Lewis, a culinary server at Skybrooke at Simsbury, has been recognized by the Connecticut Assisted Living Association with its 2026 Outstanding Resident Service Award.

The statewide award honors assisted living professionals who go above and beyond in providing exceptional care and service to residents.

Recipients represent a range of roles in senior living communities, including nursing, resident care, dining services, housekeeping and activities.

Lewis was recognized for her compassion, professionalism and commitment to residents at the Northbridge senior living community, which offers independent living, assisted living and Avita Memory Care.

According to Skybrooke at Simsbury, Lewis is known for helping new residents adjust to life in the community by welcoming them into the dining room, introducing them to neighbors with shared interests and helping ease what can be an overwhelming transition.

In addition to her dining services role, the community said Lewis regularly assists other departments when needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.

Skybrooke Executive Director Katie Lee shared an example highlighted in Lewis' award nomination.

"During a resident's final hours, Nancy chose to sit beside them, holding their hand and providing comfort, peace, and dignity during an incredibly emotional time," Lee said in a statement. "Her compassionate presence brought reassurance not only to the resident, but also to their family, who were deeply grateful for the care and kindness she showed in those final moments."

Skybrooke at Simsbury congratulated Lewis on receiving the award, thanking her for the impact she continues to have on residents, their families and fellow associates.

Skybrooke at Simsbury is a Northbridge senior living community located at 142 Cooper Ave. that offers independent living, assisted living and memory care services.
