Primaries 2026: Who's On Simsbury's Ballot, What You Need To Know

SIMSBURY, CT — National and state elections are taking place on Nov. 3, but before that big day, the candidate slates must be finalized.

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Democrats and Republicans will head to the polls for primaries, where registered members of each party will choose who will be on the November ballot.

For example, statewide, Gov. Ned Lamont is being challenged by challenger Josh Elliot for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, so every town's Democrats will be making that decision.

Other hopefuls will also be on the ballot for both parties, depending on the town.

In Simsbury, candidates will be on the primary ballots on Tuesday, Aug. 11, when polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

They are:

For Democratic governor, all Simsbury Democrats will choose between:

• Ned Lamont, the party-endorsed candidate and two-term incumbent.
• Josh Elliott.

For Republican U.S. Representative, 5th Congressional District, GOP voters will choose among:

• Chris Shea, the party-endorsed candidate

• Jonathan De Barros

Under Connecticut primary rules, endorsed candidates are identified on the ballot with an asterisk.

Early voting

In-person early voting will take place in the Main Meeting Room at Simsbury Town Hall, 933 Hopmeadow St., on the following schedule:

• Monday, Aug. 3: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, Aug. 4: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Wednesday, Aug. 5: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 6: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Friday, Aug. 7: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 8: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Sunday, Aug. 9: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Election Day voting

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, all Simsbury polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Polling locations by voting district are:

• District 1: Henry James Memorial School, 155 Firetown Road, Simsbury
• District 2: Latimer Lane School, 33 Mountain View Drive, Weatogue
• District 3: Tootin' Hills School, 25 Nimrod Road, West Simsbury
• District 4: Tariffville School, 42 Winthrop St., Tariffville
