Beloved Simsbury Fire Official Retires After More Than 50 Years Of Service

SIMSBURY, CT — The town's fire department recently said goodbye to a beloved member who has served more than 50 years in town.

Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company Deputy Chief Kevin Kowalski retired last month after more than half a century of service to the department and community.

The fire company announced Kowalski's retirement last month, recognizing his 51 years as a volunteer firefighter and leader.

Throughout his career, Kowalski participated in decades of emergency calls, training, meetings, and other department activities while rising to the rank of deputy chief.

Fire company officials credited Kowalski's leadership, experience, professionalism and dedication with leaving a lasting impact on the department.

"Five decades of calls, training, meetings, late nights, early mornings, and countless memories have added up to an incredible 51 years of service," the department said in announcing his retirement. "That kind of commitment is something truly special, especially when it's given voluntarily!"

The department also thanked Kowalski for his service to fellow firefighters and the Simsbury community.

"We're proud to have had you as part of our department for all these years and wish you nothing but the best in retirement," the fire company said.
