Board of Finance September 15, 2026
It appears that many of the non-profit Friend's organizations have used personal money to further their cause and hijack the budget process.
Many of the Friends give donations to further their specific needs and erect buildings or additions or enhancements to facilities that eventually are costs to the taxpayers without going through the budgeting process.
There is a flow of what appears to be unaccountable funding from private organizations that should be captured by the Board of Finance.
All money flowing through the town should require a chain of accountability.
The Town presently has the tennis/pickleball courts in total disrepair at Henry James Junior High although it has been on the Capital Improvement program for years.
This should be a priority item as it is a safety issue when the schools and community use it regularly.
I would like the Board of Finance to review all these initiatives outside the budgetary process with a cost and /or benefit analysis.
