McLean will host a Sept. 22 panel in Simsbury explaining care options, when they may be needed, and what Medicare or insurance may cover.

SIMSBURY, CT — McLean in Simsbury will host a panel discussion next week aimed at helping residents and families understand different health care options and how care needs can change over time.

"Right Care, Right Time: How to Find the Care You Need, When You Need It" is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Garmany Performing Arts Center at The Goodrich at McLean, 50 Sarah Lane.

The discussion will focus on the different types of health care available through McLean, when each may be appropriate, and what Medicare or private insurance may cover.

Topics will include assisted living and memory care, adult day programs, support groups, short-term rehabilitation, outpatient physical therapy, long-term care, home health care, and hospice.

McLean describes itself as a Life Plan Community offering a continuum of care, meaning different levels and types of services are available as a person's needs change.

The panel will feature four McLean staff members: Ann Pavano, director of assisted living and resident resources; Jenny Braddock, director of rehabilitation; Michaela Viglione, director of admissions; and Carla Cuccia, RPT, therapy supervisor for home care and hospice.

The program is intended to help participants better understand the distinctions among the available services and determine what type of care may be appropriate at different stages.

Reservations can be made by calling 860-658-3718 or emailing Margaret.Clark@McLeanCare.org.
