• Students From Simsbury Named Semifinalists For Major Academic Honor (patch.com subscription) — Simsbury families have reason to celebrate as two local high school seniors, from Simsbury High School and Westminster School, have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, placing them among the top 1 percent of students nationwide. They'll now compete for a share of about $24 million in scholarships, with finalists to be announced in February and awards next spring.
