Raised in Simsbury before gaining fame on the hot dog circuit and TV game shows, Janus built a colorful, globe-trotting life that friends say he lived entirely on his own terms.

• Simsbury Town Clerk's Office To Close For 1 Day This Week (patch.com) — Simsbury residents who need services from the Town Clerk's Office should note it will be closed all day Thursday, Sept. 24, for professional development. The office, which handles vital records, land records, and other key documents, will reopen on Friday, Sept. 25, at 8:30 a.m., so residents are urged to plan their visits accordingly.
