SIMSBURY, CT — From Revolutionary-era history to a spooky colonial tale, the Simsbury Historical Society has announced a series of history-focused programs and activities for October.
The society said its fall lineup combines local history, outdoor activities, and seasonal programming.

Upcoming events include:
- History Walk at St. Alban's Church Property: Ethel Walker School archivist Kim Harris-Thacker will lead walks exploring the history of the St. Alban's Church property and its connection to the school. Walks are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to noon and Friday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. Participants should park and meet in the church parking lot. The walks will be held rain or shine.
- "Murder at 3 Corner Pond: A Colonial Tale": Local playwright Betsy Maguire's play will be performed at the Simsbury Historical Society's Meeting House. Opening night is sold out, but the society said tickets were still available for performances Oct. 23, 24 and 25. Tickets at this link.
- Blacksmithing: The society said a limited number of openings remain for a beginner's class in forging iron in its blacksmith shop. For info, including registration, click on this link.
- Phelps Tavern tours: Saturday tours are available at the Capt. Elisha Phelps House, also known as the Phelps Tavern, which the society describes as a preserved example of a Revolutionary War-era tavern. To find a tour, click on this link.
The society said its programs are part of its work to preserve and promote Simsbury's history, supported by memberships, donations, grants, and sponsorships.
