SIMSBURY ARTIST’S OPEN THEIR STUDIOS TO THE PUBLIC
On Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 10am - 4pm, twelve Simsbury artists will open their studios to the public free of charge. Simbury Open Studios (SOS) is made up of a group of artists that strive to create art and their making of art more accessible to the public. They wish to share their creativity, education, appreciation and productivity by opening their own working studios to the local community. It’s always interesting to discover what was the initial inspiration behind a painting, vase,or sculpture. The artist’s eye might have caught something as seemingly insignificant as a shadow cast on a window ledge or the faint mist rising from damp ground. Possibly the gently sloping line of a distant hill caused the creation to emerge. The idea starts the process and the works begins. Each artist approaches their work differently. Every piece in every studio has a story- all you have to do is ask. The artist is most often consumed with the process not the product. It’s what makes us keep making art. We get involved with the creation and see that the possibilities are endless. We’d love to share our enthusiasm and expertise with you. So please come out and visit us, see us work and feel free to ask questions.
