Announcements Made On Status Of Simsbury Memorial Day Parades
Simsbury had two Memorial Day parades slated for Monday Morning.
SIMSBURY, CT — Organizers canceled both the Simsbury and Tariffville Memorial Day parades scheduled for Monday because of expected rain and safety concerns related to the weather.
The 2026 Memorial Day Parade Committee announced the decision after monitoring changing weather forecasts throughout the day on Sunday.
Officials said the ceremonies honoring military service members who died while serving the United States will still take place despite the parade cancellations.

“This was a really hard decision, but we have to think about potentially having electricity connected with rain coming down,” organizers said in a public statement.
The committee noted that several nearby communities also canceled Memorial Day parades because of the forecast.
Earlier Sunday, organizers had delayed making a final decision while awaiting updated weather reports, citing forecasts ranging from a 10% to 75% chance of rain.
Officials thanked residents for their patience and understanding as plans changed because of weather conditions.
