SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Vanderbilt University, Nashville TN

• Isabelle Dorman, a freshman from Simsbury, was named to the Dean's List at Vanderbilt University for the fall 2018 semester. Dean's list students must achieve a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average. Dorman is also a 'Dore for a Day host and Student Alumni Board representative for the Class of 2022.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• Two Simsbury residents were among 1,595 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2018 semester: Caleb Ralphs, a member of the class of 2020 majoring in computer science, and Kaitlyn Fichtner, a member of the class of 2022 majoring in robotics engineering and mechanical engineering. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
