Clemson University, Clemson SC

  • Hayes Patrick Martin of Simsbury graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Martin was among nearly 3,700 students who received degrees at ceremonies May 10 and 11, 2018, in Littlejohn Coliseum.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Nine students from Eastern Connecticut State University participated in a Psychology Summer Research Institute from May 14 to 18. Under the mentorship of Professors Luis Cordon and Lyndsey Lanagan-Leitze, students were introduced to topics in sensation, perception, and cognitive neuroscience. Among the participants was Brooke Lemons of Tariffville, who majors in Psychology.

Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY

  • A quartet of local residents graduated from Marist College the weekend of May 18. Margaret Lyman of West Simsbury received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work; Stephen Nocera of Simsbury received a Master's degree in Public Administration; Abigail Ritson of Simsbury received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology - Special Education; and David Zambuto of Simsbury received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) began its 150th Commencement celebrations with the graduate students ceremony on Thursday, May 10, awarding nearly 830 master's and doctoral degrees. Morgan Kapp of Simsbury was awarded a master of business administration degree.
  • On Saturday, May 12, on the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) campus quadrangle, over 1,000 bachelor's degrees were awarded during the university's 150th commencement ceremony. Four were awarded to local residents: Andrew Bauer of Simsbury was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mathematical sciences with distinction; Nicholas Carabillo of Simsbury was awarded a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering; Megan Hanshaw of Weatogue was awarded a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering with high distinction; and Jarrett Jacobson of Weatogue was awarded a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering.
