Around the Campuses - Simsbury College Students

SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Colby College, Waterville ME

• In an outdoor ceremony May 27, 482 degrees were awarded to members of Colby's Class of 2018 at the College's 197th Commencement. Two local residents were awarded diplomas: Thomas C. Griffith, who majored in environmental policy, attended Westminster School and is the son of Charles and Jeanne Griffith of Simsbury; and John D. Pappas, who majored in history, attended Westminster School and is the son of James and Mary Pappas of West Simsbury.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its spring 2018 semester Dean's List for full-time students. Honorees from Simsbury and their majors are: Bailey Holloway, Pre-Secondary Education Certification and Mathematics; Kierra Mahon, Pre-Early Childhood Education and Psychology; Madison Bailey, Pre-Early Childhood Education and Theatre; Emily Graham, Communication; Brooke Lemons, Psychology; Danielle Romanelli, Psychology; and Kaylee West, Communication. In order to be named to the Dean's List, Eastern students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the semester.

Knox College, Galesburg IL

• About 300 Knox College seniors received their bachelor's degrees on June 3, 2018, at the College's Commencement exercises in Galesburg, Illinois. The new graduates include Nathaniel Bamberg-Johnson of West Simsbury, who majored in Creative Writing with a minor in Educational Policy/Studio Art.

Wesleyan University, Middletown CT

• Maya Craffey of Simsbury graduated from Wesleyan University on May 26 with a BA in Chemistry and Government. Craffey received Honors in Government.)
