Hamilton College, Clinton NY

• Torben Wunderle, of West Simsbury, recently matriculated as a first-year student at Hamilton College. Wunderle, a graduate of Simsbury High School, was selected from a pool of 8,339 applicants to the college, and joins a class of 474.

Lehigh University, Bethlehem PA

• Mark Bedson of West Simsbury enrolled at Lehigh University as part of the Class of 2023. The members of the Class of 2023 represent 42 U.S. states and territories, including Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, and 26 countries, and is also one of the most diverse and competitive classes ever admitted to Lehigh.

St. Lawrence University, Canton NY

• St. Lawrence University welcomed Margaret D. Chaves of Simsbury as a member of the Class of 2023. Chaves attended Westminster School. St. Lawrence University welcomed 620 students, including 56 international students, to the Class of 2023 as well as returning and transfer students.

University of Vermont, Burlington VT

• On Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, Jackson Brush of Simsbury and more than 270 first-year University of Vermont students, led by 76 upper class leaders began their UVM experience as part of TREK, a unique, seven-day first year enrichment program sponsored by the University's Department of Student Life. Brush participated in Hiking. A part of the Wilderness TREK program which provides students the opportunity to build lasting friendships, initiate self-discovery, and explore the people and landscapes that are Vermont, Hiking TREK provides incoming students an opportunity to visit and explore some of the highest, most remote and oldest footpaths in the country - all along the long trail and in the Adirondacks. Hiking on average eight miles per day, traversed through hardwood, trickling streams and learned of the North Country's rich, natural history along the way.
