SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern's annual graduation ceremony was held at the XL Center in Hartford on May 15, with more than 12,000 family members and friends cheering on their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, as 1,105 undergraduates and 85 graduate students received their diplomas. Anna Gallant of Simsbury graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Tufts University, Medford MA

• Michelle Lapointe Oranges of Simsbury recently graduated from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University along with 147 other students - whose studies varied from veterinary medicine to the intersection of animals and public policy, to infectious disease and global health - at its 36th commencement ceremony on May 20. Lapointe Oranges earned a DVM.
