Simsbury's Top Arts And Craft Event Is Back: Here's What You Need To Know
The festival this weekend will raise money for the Simsbury Junior Women's Club to support scholarships and nonprofit organizations.
SIMSBURY, CT — One of the town's most highly anticipated annual events is back to normal this year, with the Simsbury Arts & Crafts Festival slated to start this weekend.
The event is Saturday, Sept. 17, and Sunday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center, 22 Iron Horse Blvd., Simsbury.
There, all sorts of diverse arts and crafts vendors will sell their wares and provide visitors with an enjoyable peak at what creative minds can devise — and help out a few good causes as well.

The festival is sponsored by the Simsbury Junior Women's Club and proceeds of the event will help local high school scholarships, as well as charities throughout the Farmington River Valley, according to an announcement of the event.
The proceeds come from vendor registration fees, according to the club, so the more people show up to purchase original arts and crafts, the more vendors arrive for future years.

The women's club doesn't make any money off any item sales.
"These proceeds fund an annual scholarship to a deserving young woman graduating from Simsbury High School who has demonstrated a passion for serving her community, as well as grants to local non-profit organizations," writes the club on the event webpage. "All award recipients are honored at our appropriations reception in April."
In addition to local arts and crafts vendors, the festival will also feature a monster truck, Simsbury Fire Department vehicles and other vehicles at a "Touch-a-Truck" event to happen during the festival.
Festivities are on the newly paved parking lot at the performing arts center.
