SIMSBURY, CT — A prominent automobile dealership has donated special blankets to the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Co. to protect against the spread of vehicle fires.

Designed for electric vehicle fires, but effective against all vehicle fires, the electric vehicle blankets are used to create a barrier between fire and other objects, wrote the SVFC.

On Sept. 30, the SVFC graciously accepted a donation from the Hoffman Auto Group out of East Hartford of four such EV blankets.

" The blankets can be used to protect an object against an EV fire, create a barrier between a fire and other objects, reduce the temperature of a fire, and much more," wrote the SVFC.

The Simsbury Fire Marshal's Office has worked closely with Hoffman's to identify potential risks and "ways we can mitigate those risks," wrote the SVFC.
