Bicycle Cellar to Host Kids Bike Inspections at Squadron Line School on April 21

The Bicycle Cellar invites families to Squadron Line School for a free safety check of children's bikes and helmets.

April is the perfect time to determine if children’s bikes and helmets still fit, tires are inflated, and bikes are ride-ready. To help families with this task, The Bicycle Cellar will conduct free inspections of children’s bikes and helmets at Squadron Line Elementary School on Friday, April 21 from 3:45 to 6 pm in the rear parking lot. The bicycle safety inspection will include tires, chain, seat, handlebars, brakes, and visual observation for any mechanical safety problems. Some minor repairs will be completed on–site. Parts and more extensive repairs are not included, but referrals for additional service will be offered. Members of the Simsbury Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) will be available to answer questions about bicycle safety and upcoming Bike Month events. Safety literature and small giveaways will be provided.

The Bicycle Cellar and BPAC aim to educate families on proper bike and helmet fit and basic safety requirements so children are prepared for the riding season and upcoming Bike to School events on May 5 at Squadron Line, May 10 at Tootin’ Hills, and May 16 at Latimer Lane. Bikes that are in good working order and fit the rider are safer and more fun to ride. To participate, children should be accompanied by an adult and bring their bike and helmet. For more information, go to www.simsbury.bike or contact The Bicycle Cellar at (860) 658-1311. Squadron Line Elementary School is located at 44 Squadron Line Road in Simsbury.
