This sermon explores Luke 14:1, 7–14, where Jesus challenges the prevailing norms about honor, humility, and social standing. As he dines with the Pharisees, Jesus uses the setting to teach that the kingdom of God upends worldly status—lifting the lowly, welcoming the forgotten, and humbling the proud. Through parable and example, Jesus invites his followers to practice radical hospitality: to make room at the table for those who are often overlooked and to measure greatness not by prestige, but by service and grace. Drawing from Wesleyan theology, the message emphasizes that true holiness is lived out in acts of humility, hospitality, and the pursuit of social justice. Ultimately, God's grace gathers all people, especially those left on the margins, into a community of honor and belonging. This is the last week of our Summer schedule, with sermons at 8:00 am with communion and at 9:30 with nursery care in our air-conditioned Wesley Hall. All are welcome!
