Spring is here, and Simsbury Grange is excited to be offering even more top notch music!
On April 12th, local musician Jeff Verney, aka "The Troubadour of Happiness," is launching a monthly Sunday afternoon House Concert series. Doors open at 4:30pm and the concert will be from 5:00-6:30pm.
The inaugural House Concert will feature Massachusetts-based singer/songwriter, Rees Shad. Rees has had a prolific 40+ year career with 32 releases and 17 solo albums. He has made a name for himself as a wordsmith troubadour, crafting songs that are often both poignant and profound.
Rees is dedicated to the creating short-story songs that cross genre lines in order to serve the spirit of each tale he weaves and deeply engage with audiences. Shad’s latest release Porcelain Angel spent three months on the FAI Folk Chart top ten list, with the single ‘Ain’t That The Way’ sitting in the #1 spot for April and May and the title track ‘Porcelain Angel’ holding the #1 spot in June. The album ended the year #23 of the top100 Folk albums of 2025 having been lauded for its “grace and elegance” (Americana UK), “all-knowing tonality” (Americana Highways), and for “pushing the boundaries of musical storytelling” (Rogovoy Report).
In addition to this new House Concert series, the successful Music Mondays series continues on the first Monday of each month with doors at 6:30 and music at 7 pm. Next up is Joel Weik and Gracin Dorsey on April 6th, Ava Grom on May 4, and A Thing Called Dave on June 1. The Simsbury Grange Agricultural Fair on June 13th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm will feature music and demos in the morning and an open mic in the afternoon.
All ages are welcome to all Music at the Grange (and everything else!). Music is upstairs and there are LEGOs for children and a changing table and comfortable chair for parents downstairs. Feel free to bring your own food and drinks to enjoy during the show (carry-in/carry-out) . There are no advance tickets, admission is free, and donations are welcome. If you are able, please park next door at the plaza to keep the Grange parking lot available for those with challenges. Read more about music at the Grange in the latest issue of Valley Life:
