Wear your red, white, and blue! The evening begins with our dedication of the newly planted Liberty Tree, followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 6:30 p.m., and a musical performance by the Simsbury Community Band from 7:00-8:15 p.m.
First, join us for the Liberty Tree Dedication Ceremony at 6 p.m. The Liberty Tree is an American elm tree planted in the center circle of the Simsbury Historical Society's main lot at 10 Phelps Lane.
Then, walk up to the lawn surrounded by beautiful garden beds and listen to the Declaration of Independence Reading at 6:30 p.m., commemorating the first public reading of this famous document on July 8, 1776.
The evening will be capped off with a musical tribute to our nation’s 250th birthday! The Simsbury Community Band at 7 p.m. will perform a full concert of patriotic tunes and crowd favorites.
Activities take place on the Simsbury Historical Society grounds in downtown Simsbury. BYO lawn chairs and picnic blankets! Free admission! No registration required. For more information about Simsbury 250th Celebration Committee, visit our website.
