Color Theory is a basic principle for all visual arts. Unlike painters who mix their colors, photographers basically find their colors. It is important then to understand how to see color, and understand what role light plays in the process. Knowing the physiological basis of color is also critical in understanding why some photographs are more successful than others. The goal is to simplify the physics of light, the physiology of vision, and our perceptions of color and light in order to appreciate how we see color and how to use that info to improve our photos.

Learn about color wheels, seeing in color, brightness values of colors when translated to black and white, the color of light, camera and computer interpretation of it, how to control color in the camera, on your monitor and with printing, and the relationship of the three color wheels as the basis of color theory in photography.
