SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.
Goodwin College, East Hartford CT
- Goodwin College's President's List for the summer 2017 session includes 225 students, all of whom scored a perfect 4.0 GPA. Among them were Marc Conrad and Holly Savage of Simsbury.
- Goodwin College announces that 731 students achieved Dean's List status for the summer 2017 session.
Honorees from Simsbury were Ashley Beach, Kimberly Cabral, Marc Conrad, Ellen Deckers, Karen Jensen, Natalie Mellish-Konzack, Holly Savage and Tashunda Smith. Dean's List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.

- The back line of the soccer team, including Megan Hanshaw, was tabbed the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 22. Led by starters Megan Hanshaw of Simsbury, Kirsten Southan, Karina Larson and Georgie Cromwell, the Engineers allowed only one goal in just under 200 minutes this past week. Only three of nine shots made it to goalkeeper Gabriela Hoops in a 1-0 win at Wheaton and four of 12 shots got through in a double OT match Saturday that nearly went the entire 110 minutes.
- Spencer Ralphs of Simsbury and the WPI men's soccer team claimed the 2017 NEWMAC Championship via penalty kicks and qualified for the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. Ralphs also garnered NEWMAC Academic All-Conference accolades.
