- Juliet Elisabeth Clarkson of West Simsbury, a senior majoring in biology at Clarkson University, received the Clarke H. Joy '29 Memorial Endowed Scholarship during the 2017-2018 academic year.

- Lisa Heller, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2018, has earned the fall 2017 Dean's Award with Distinction. Heller is a graduate of Simsbury High School whose current major is psychology. Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.6 or higher while completing at least three courses during the fall 2017 semester earn the Dean's Award with Distinction.
- Molly Brian, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2021, has earned the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence. Brian is a graduate of Simsbury High School, from West Simsbury. Brian's current major is undeclared. Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.3 or higher while completing at least three courses earn the fall 2017 Dean's Award for Academic Excellence.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Many Eastern Connecticut State University students participate in Eastern's clubs during the academic year. The student club programs range from social to educational, physical to spiritual and civic engagement programs that benefit and enrich the Eastern community. Participants from Simsbury during the fall 2017 semester were: Breanna Chubb, People Helping People (PHP) Club, Elementary Education and Liberal Studie major; Anna Gallant, FEMALES Organization, Psychology major; Kierra Mahon, Competitive Cheerleading Squad, Pre-Early Childhood Education and Psychology major; Joseph Restaine, African Club of Eastern, History major; Danielle Romanelli, Campus Lantern Student Newspaper Club, Psychology major; and Kaylee West, ConNOTicuts Club, Communication major.
Muhlenberg College, Allentown PA

- More than 60 students, including Olivia Schwager, a Chemistry major from Simsbury, collaborated with faculty on a variety of research projects last summer as part of Muhlenberg College's vibrant research community. Undergraduate research topics can be student- or faculty-driven, and span the natural and social sciences, humanities and arts. In summer 2017, projects included studying air quality, violin acoustics, cell genetics, works from a famous Irish novelist, Islamic and Ecuadorian cultures, and more.
