Bates College, Lewiston ME

• Claire Sickinger of Simsbury was named to the dean's list at Bates College for the winter semester ending in April 2019. This is a distinction earned by students whose cumulative grade point average is 3.77 or higher. Sickinger, the daughter of Mr. William T. and Dr. Pamela H. Sickinger, is a 2015 graduate of Simsbury High School. She is a senior majoring in dance and environmental studies at Bates.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education held its annual year-end award ceremony and Alpha Upsilon Chi honor society induction ceremony on May 2. Among the honored was Daniel Straughn of Simsbury, who majors in Physical Education. Straughn was presented with the Outstanding Student Teacher Award.

Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown PA

• Ashleigh Denault of Simsbury, a Health & Occupation major, was named to the dean's list at Elizabethtown College for the spring 2019 semester. Students on the dean's list are full-time undergraduate students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better in 14 or more credit hours, of which at least 12 credits are letter-graded course work.
