- Junior attack Caitlin Wood of the 14th-ranked Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team has been named the NESCAC Co-Player of the Week. Wood was terrific during a 1-1 week for the Cardinals in which she totaled six points on five goals and one assist. Most importantly, Wood led Wesleyan's comeback efforts against then-No. 19 Colby College. Trailing by two with 42 seconds remaining, she cut the deficit to one and then shortly after, on a free position attempt, she scored the game-tying goal with just nine seconds on the clock to send the game into overtime. Wood finished the game with three goals and one assist. In addition to her stellar play against the Mules, the Simsbury native also scored twice in Wesleyan's difficult non-conference loss against then-No. 25 Stevens, 10-9. Wood currently leads the team with 16 goals and has played a pivotal role in the Cardinals' early season success, in which they boast a 7-2 overall record and 3-1 mark in the ultra-competitive NESCAC.
